STAFF INTERVIEW: TRACY KINGSNORTH, COO

April 26, 2022

Meet Tracy Kingsnorth, our COO here at Bluebox Corporate Finance. This month, we are celebrating Bluebox’s 10 year anniversary so we sat down with Tracy to reflect on her thoughts and emotions as she looks back on the last decade.

What was your background prior to starting at Bluebox?

My background was in events management. I spent the best part of ten years organising parties and conferences for some super interesting clients from large corporates to smaller size businesses. I also organised over 100 weddings in that time, all of which gave me a great grounding for working at Bluebox as a start up company as they both involved juggling many different things and wearing lots of different hats.

This month, we celebrate 10 years of Bluebox Corporate Finance. What thoughts and emotions come to mind when you think about this?

Many thoughts and emotions, both personally and professionally. From a personal perspective, I have learnt so much and have gained so much confidence. When I look back to where I was and what I knew about business ten years ago, it was next to nothing. Now I feel far more knowledgeable when it comes to the world of business, and I never stop learning which is one of the things I love about working at Bluebox.

Professionally, when I look back at everything we have achieved at Bluebox, despite numerous hurdles that we have had to overcome, I feel incredibly proud. We have built a successful business from scratch and it has been an incredible journey.

What do you like most about working at Bluebox as COO?

Number one would be the team, we have such a strong team, everyone gets on so well and each and every one of the team is a joy to work with. I also love the diversity of my role. One minute I will be number crunching, the next interviewing for a new team member then focusing on a new entrepreneurial project.

What has been your proudest moment since you’ve started?

It is really hard to pinpoint an exact moment as there have been so many so I will give you a few:

  1. Signing up our first client when we first started out was a pretty big moment
  2. Closing our first deal, which was luckily one of many
  3. Moving to our current beautiful offices at Gloucester Place
  4. Winning various awards over the years
  5. Working very hard as a team to get the business through the Covid-19 pandemic and coming out the other side stronger than ever

What lessons have you learnt over the past 10 years?

You can never predict what is going to happen in business so always be prepared. Don’t take anything personally and always have a positive mindset.

What time does your alarm go off and how do you usually prepare yourself for the day?

My alarm goes off somewhere between 6:00am and 6:30am. I always take my dog for a long walk in the morning before the day starts as that is the time when I have the most mental clarity and can think about what I need to get done that day. If I have a problem at work that I am really struggling with and can’t think of a solution, I will usually have a solution by the time I get back from my walk.

Rapid fire

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Melbourne – I spent almost 2 years there in my twenties and loved it, the city has so much to offer.

If you could be anyone for the day, who would it be? The Queen

Where is your favorite place to eat? This sounds really boring but at home. I am veggie and I love cooking so I mostly find that I can usually make something just as good, if not better, at home. Tracy’s Veggie Café coming soon 😊

What is your hidden talent? Not sure I have one, unless you can include walking really, really long distances or teaching my dog agility!
