Staff Interview: Sonia Djan – M&A Analyst

September 10, 2024

Meet Sonia Djan, Bluebox’s new M&A Analyst. We sat down with Sonia to learn a bit more about her background and what drew her towards a career in M&A at Bluebox as well as finding out a bit more about her outside of work…

What is your current role at Bluebox?

I’m an analyst on the deal team, I support the team on the execution of M&A deals.

What was your background prior to joining Bluebox?

Before joining Bluebox I completed my BSc in Industrial Economics at The University of Nottingham. I’ve also had experience working on the buy-side in private equity at Inflexion, in private credit at Ares Management, and within a family office at Caledonia Investments.

What is your favourite thing about working in M&A?

The variety and diversity of deals I get to work on is my favourite aspect. I love that the role is sector-agnostic, so I’m exposed to new industries and knowledge with every deal. Plus, I love the personal connections I build with clients.

What do you think will be the most significant factor affecting businesses in 2025?

Could be the policy changes introduced by a new Labour government.

Where do you see yourself in a year?

I see myself having advanced in my role as an analyst. By then, I hope to have refined my skill set, developed a strong understanding of the industry, and become a highly capable and confident professional.

What’s your favourite part about working at Bluebox?

Definitely the people. The dynamics within the team creates an amazing work environment and since we spend most of our week together, this is so important. And, whenever my colleagues’ dogs visit, it’s an added bonus!

Quick Fire:

1. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Visiting Japan or (slightly more ambitious) performing with a samba school during Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival.

3. What is your favourite hobby outside of work?

I enjoy garden-to-table cooking
