May 16, 2023

Meet Jennifer Rodriguez, one of the M&A analysts here at Bluebox. In this interview, we get an inside look into Jennifer’s background, hear about why she chose a career in corporate finance, and get a glimpse into her life outside of Bluebox. So, without further ado, let’s get to know Jennifer.

Can you tell us a bit about your background prior to joining Bluebox as an M&A Analyst?

I grew up in Vancouver, Canada and attended the University of British Columbia where I decided to do an exchange in Paris. After my exchange, I completed my masters at EDHEC Business School in France, before starting to work for the Quality Control & Compliance teams at Mazars Group.

Have you always wanted to work in Corporate Finance and if so, what drew you to the profession? If not, what other career paths were you interested in?

I have always been drawn to Corporate Finance, particularly because it has applications in all areas of business. I like the fact that as an analyst I get to play different roles and work with the team to achieve the best valuation for our client.

What does a typical day look like for you working at Bluebox as an M&A Analyst?

It really depends on the stage of the deals therefore it can vary from creating sell-side decks to participating in management meetings.

What is one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

I am an avid sailor! One of my biggest goals is to participate in the BVI regatta alongside my family.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Coming to Europe and building a career from scratch, and now forming part of the Bluebox team. Professionally, this opportunity has broadened my view of Corporate Finance and exposed me to a variety of sectors. The team has also been extremely welcoming and supportive of my professional development!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up – cheesy, but true.

If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

Boyan Slat, who at the age of 18 founded of The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organisation dedicated to eliminating plastic pollution in our oceans through their innovative “interceptors”. I would be very curious to hearing about the global impact of the project so far and what we could to help.
