Staff Interview: Gabi Feingold – Marketing Assistant

March 24, 2023

Meet Gabi Feingold, Bluebox’s new Marketing Assistant. We sat down with Gabi to learn a bit more about her background and what drew her towards a career in Marketing at Bluebox as well as finding out a bit more about her outside of work…

What was your background prior to joining Bluebox as a Marketing Assistant?

Prior to Bluebox, I studied Criminology at Durham University and graduated in June 2022. I have quite an eclectic range of job experiences, including being a qualified gymnastics coach and I was also a Reese’s Peanut Butter cups promoter at a festival last summer. In saying that, I have always had a passion for marketing, and doing something so multi-faceted like that was something I was extremely interested in pursuing. After some time travelling around South-East Asia during winter of 2022, I decided to undertake some internships in the marketing field. I undertook two internships before accepting my role at Bluebox.

What were your motivations behind choosing a career in Marketing at Bluebox?

My main motivations were and are the ability to create, to impact others and to be constantly adapting and changing strategies in order to keep up with today’s transforming world. I am somebody who loves to have a lot of different things going on at the same time, and marketing is something which adheres to that completely. I also really like the way that Bluebox holds interesting and engaging events, which is something I wanted to be involved in.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

I would say that one of my greatest achievements is a personal one. Travelling alone last year to the Philippines was a big achievement of mine, mostly because it was an unknown country and far away from home or anybody I knew. It meant that when things went wrong (which they did), I had to deal with them on my own, which was a real challenge for me.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best quotes or pieces of advice I’ve ever heard is “you don’t have to be the same person you were 5 minutes ago”. I love this quote because it essentially means that you don’t have to define yourself by one mistake you made, or by a time where you behaved in a way that you regret. You can change yourself at any time.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Honestly, I am such a morning person, and I haven’t ever really found it hard to get up early. I usually have a list of things I want to get done, and as I’m most productive in the mornings, I tend to be motivated by these to get up and get my list completed.

If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would love to have dinner with Princess Diana. She remains an icon today despite her not being here anymore. Unfortunately, she was before my time and so I would love to just have a conversation with her.

We finish the interview and you step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning £10 million. What would you do?

Honestly, nothing. I think I would have to take some time to think about what I’m going to do with the money. I’d put it into a bank account and consider my options. I’d tell my sister first though out of anyone.

You’re currently a Marketing Assistant, but looking forward, where do you hope to be in your career in 10 years time?

I really do hope that I will be running my own business. I’ve always been pretty motivated and good at taking the lead. I also have a lot of ideas and inspiration that I would love to put into practice.

Rapid fire

Who would you want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Somebody with survival skills because I don’t really have any.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation. I would love to go anywhere at any time.

Best dish you’ve ever had?

Recently, I went to a Vietnamese restaurant in Edinburgh and the food was better than when I was in Vietnam. I had these crispy spring rolls which had batter around them, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them since.

If you could join any past or current music group which would you want to join??

I would love to be on tour with Harry Styles and be part of his current tour band. This isn’t only because I love Harry and his music, but also because they’ve been travelling all over the world and touring so they must be meeting so many people and seeing so many places.
