Staff Interview: Elliot House

October 25, 2022

In light of his two-year work anniversary and recent promotion, we caught up with Elliot House, Senior Analyst here at Bluebox. We sat down with Elliot to find out what he likes most about working here, why he initially chose to apply for a role with us, his idea of a perfect day and much more….

This month marks two years that you’ve been at Bluebox, what do you like the most about working at Bluebox?

The range of sectors and clients we work with. In my two years at Bluebox I have been fortunate enough to work with some incredible businesses across technology, healthcare, consumer, and professional services. With each transaction unique, there are many learning points and takeaways that can be applied cross-sector to solve complex problems.

What initially drew you to apply for a role at Bluebox?

While at University I spoke to several students who had previously interned at Bluebox. Everyone echoed the collaborative team environment which I valued highly. I was also drawn to Bluebox’s focus on pre-sale planning, addressing potential headwinds ahead of a formal process. From these, Bluebox was clearly an environment which would reward interest and ambition, while delivering key value-add to clients beyond a formal M&A process.

What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started working here?

The involvement the team across the end-to-end deal process. It is very common within the industry to be allocated a particular niche within deal process, and so it was a pleasant surprise upon joining to gain exposure across the spectrum, from initial market research through to due diligence and closing.

In your last interview, you mentioned your ever-growing bucket list, have you ticked anything off that list in the last two years and if so, what?

Last December I managed to spend a very cold weekend in Cornwall winter surfing. Once you get used to the cold, the waves are incredible. On the travelling side, I was recently able to visit New Delhi and will definitely be returning!
