February 25, 2025

Meet Ben Brookes, Analyst here at Bluebox. Recently, Ben joined the Bluebox team, so we took some time to catch up with him to learn about his previous experience and get to know him better on a personal level.

What’s your role at Bluebox, and what excites you most about it?

I’m an M&A analyst on the deals team. The day-to-day variety of the role makes work engaging and interesting, whilst teaching me about industries I never thought I’d learn about.

Can you share a bit about your background and the journey that brought you to Bluebox?

I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2024, completing a BSc (Hons) in Economics. I also gained experience at an investment bank in New Zealand during the summer of 2023, as well as time spent developing pricing models for an online electric vehicle company.

What do you enjoy most about working in M&A, and what drew you to this field?

I enjoy working with a diverse range of entrepreneurs. M&A is a pivotal stage in a company’s life cycle, and the chance to create meaningful value is inspiring.

If you look ahead a year, what are you most hoping to achieve—professionally and personally?

I hope to develop my skillset as a professional, working on a range of deals in different sectors, whilst also making a start on my CFA qualification. I’d also like to see Manchester United win some games of football!

From your perspective, what trends or challenges do you think will shape businesses the most in 2025?

Agentic AI. The industry is moving at a rapid pace, and there will be significant challenges as companies incorporate the new technologies into their products and services. It’s an exciting time to witness the new things businesses will be able to create.
