Alex’s Walker – Staff Interview

  1. What is your current role at Bluebox, and how have your responsibilities changed over the time that you’ve been here?

As an Analyst, I assist the rest of the deal team in every stage of the deal from pitch through to management of the data room. Since joining Bluebox, my role has developed in regard to the level of autonomy I am granted whilst working on various aspects of the deal as my experience and skillset has increased.

  1. How have you seen Bluebox develop/change since the start of your role?

I would say the largest development that the company has seen since I joined has been the fact that it has gone through an EOT (Employee Ownership Trust) sale. This essentially means that the employee’s own the business. As a result, it is in the interest of all members of staff to achieve the most successful deals possible for our clients.

  1. If you could give your one year ago self some advice, what would it be?

I would give myself advice and guidance relating to studying for the CFA Level 1 exam that I passed in February of this year. Despite passing, there would be a wealth of advice that I could have offered myself that would have improved the efficiency of my studying.

  1. What is your favourite thing about working in M&A?

The fact that I have the opportunity to understand how a wide range of businesses operate and position themselves in various markets. Being sector agnostic, every client is very different, bringing considerable variety to my role.

  1. What do you think is going to be the most prevalent factor to affect businesses in 2024?

A potential change in government

  1. Where do you see yourself in another year’s time?

I see myself progressing in my career to Senior Analyst, hopefully having achieved a number of successful outcomes for our clients along the way!

  1. What’s your favourite part about working at Bluebox?

My colleagues. We are only a small team so it is important that everyone enjoys working with each other, something that I think is very much the case.

Quick Fire

  1. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Michael Jordan. I think a lot can be learned from him about determination and work ethic in the pursuit of achieving personal goals.

  1. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do with the money?

Send a significant amount to my parents

  1. What is your favourite hobby outside of work?

Running

  1. If you were to move to another country, which country would it be?

Probably Jamaica
