Operations Director, Tracy Kingsnorth to climb Mount Elbrus in support of Rays of Sunshine

Bluebox are delighted to announce that Operations Director, Tracy Kingsnorth will be taking on an enormous challenge in July in support of our charity, Rays of Sunshine. Taking comfort from the fact that she has responsibility for the Health and Safety of the Bluebox team and on the basis she has assured us she will return in one piece. Tracy will be climbing Mount Elbrus in Russia, the highest mountain in Europe and one of the fabled seven summits in the world.

Tracy will be writing a monthly training blog. This will be featured in our newsletter about her progress and experiences in the lead up to this huge challenge. Having previously climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and having trekked and stayed at Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas, we hope she knows what she’s doing. However, it will be no mean feat with temperatures as low as -10 Celcius and the summit at 5,642M (16,500 feet)!

She will of course be looking to raise much needed funds for this amazing charity. So your support would be much appreciated along the way. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tracy-KingsnorthMountElbrus

A bit about Rays of Sunshine

Rays of Sunshine (raysofsunshine.org.uk)  grants wishes for children across the UK (aged three – 18), living with a serious or life-limiting illness. Every day of the year the charity gives brave and deserving young people the chance to put their illness on hold and enjoy a moment of escape.  It is Bluex’s nominated charity and is supported by the team.

Over 4,500 individual wishes have been granted since the charity was set up in 2003.  Wishes can be as unique as the children themselves. Whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for the day, go to Disney World in Florida, visit Santa in Lapland, own an iPad, meet a favourite celebrity, Rays of Sunshine works hard to make that wish come true.

Rays of Sunshine also grants ward wishes. Which offer a distraction to hundreds of children during their time in hospital or a hospice. Events and outings are held throughout the year for large groups of seriously ill children. These include trips to theme parks, hospital activity/pamper days, parties and The Rays of Sunshine Concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

Rays of Sunshine receives no government funding. Celebrity ambassadors include One Direction, Gordon Ramsay, Leona Lewis, Pixie Lott, Olly Murs, Louis Smith MBE, Dynamo, Lorraine Pascale and Amanda Lamb.
