Meet Josh Houry, M&A Analyst at Bluebox

Tuesday, 18 August 2026

Josh Houry joined Bluebox as an M&A Analyst this summer. We asked him what drew him to corporate finance, which part of a deal he enjoys most, and what he would be doing if he had not ended up in the sector.

The questions

  1. What first drew you to corporate finance and M&A?

The idea of working with business owners through a process has always resonated with me. It’s such a crucial milestone for them to go through this sort of process and I think it’s a privilege to be able to guide and work with them through it. That impact that I can make is what drew me in.

2. What does a typical week look like for you as an analyst?

It’s very project and client dependent which I think makes the role exciting. Sure, I will be building IMs, brainstorming buyers for a client, or understanding their business and sector but every deal I’m working on right now is completely different from each other.

3.Which part of a deal do you find most interesting, and why?

For me it’s getting into the details of who the company are, the sector they operate in, working with them to understand the story they want to tell and translating that through teasers, IMs, financial models – you name it!

4. If you weren’t in finance, what would you be doing?

I used to be quite good at art at school and I really enjoyed it, so probably doing something where I can use that. Possibly Architecture.

5. Where would you like to be in three years?

I’d still like to be here, hopefully as a senior analyst! More deal experience under my belt, and being able to own more of the work we do.

Rapid fire

One line each, first thing that comes to mind.

  1. Early bird or night owl?

  1. Best piece of advice you have been given?

Do something you enjoy and you’ll never work a day in your life – my dad told me that but he definitely got it from somewhere else!

  1. What are you doing when you are not at work?

Watching West Ham attempt to play football.

  1. One thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

At 15 I spent a month on the island of Borneo for a school trip
