Charlotte Williams – Staff Interview

May 31, 2019

  1. What was your background prior to joining Bluebox?

I came to Bluebox straight from university in 2016 where I studied Business Management with Marketing, the course taught me the vital role marketing plays in organisations to ensure they are successful and competitive. I also worked part-time in the university sports department, within the development team. My role was to assist with the delivery of increasing participation in sport and involved the running and organisation of events, this experience led me to pursue a career focused on events and marketing.

  1. What were your motivations behind choosing a career in Marketing within Bluebox?

What attracted me to Bluebox was getting experience working in a corporate finance company that provided market-leading pre-sale planning for businesses that want to sell. At university I was particularly interested in the Managing and Organising module I undertook in my second year and I have definitely used this in my role as Marketing and Team Executive here at Bluebox, organising and assisting the wider team (there is never a dull day here!)

  1. What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Professional – graduating from my degree with a 2:1 – working part time plus playing sport and studying at the same time showed that hard work does pay off when you put your mind to something.

Personal – I think this would be completing the 10k Charity Run for Bluebox last year. I hadn’t ever been able to run past 5k so this was a real achievement!

  1. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be kind to people; treat people as you would like to be treated.

  1. If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

I’d like to have healing powers – it would be nice to have a superpower that would help change other’s lives and not just for myself!

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Looking out on the beach in Barbados – the people there are so friendly and waking up to the sea every day would be incredible (and living off rum punches)

  1. Given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

The Queen – I’d love to get an insight into her life, what she does every day and be able to wear the crown jewels.

Quick fire

  1. Favourite sport? Playing would be hockey but watching would have to be tennis.

  4. How would your friends describe you? Honest! – I am the worst liar!
