Facebook partners with Uber

December 17, 2015

Facebook has announced a partnership with Uber that will allow users in the US to order taxis through Facebook’s own Messenger app.

The new integration wraps all of Uber’s features up in Messenger – payment, maps, and alerts when the driver is nearby. (Independent)

Users will not need to download the Uber app separately.

“Uber on Messenger” began in parts of the US this week, the two firms said.

The companies announced their new venture via separate blogs.

Facebook has some 1.5 billion users globally and Uber is the world’s biggest driver-hailing app in terms of financing. (BBC News)

Facebook’s shares closed up 2.1 percent at $106.97 on Wednesday amid a broad rally on Wall Street. (Reuters)
